In Depth

Who would you call your mentor?

In the domain industry, I’ve been fortunate to have many mentors who have helped me grow and learn. Among them are Kate Buckley, Braden Pollock, Rick Schwartz, Steven Sacks and Eric Borgos. Each of these individuals has had a profound impact on my career, and each has showed me kindness and encouragement when I needed it most. I’m also grateful to my sister Melissa for her unconditional love and support during a difficult time in my life. She has been my rock helping me to get the recovery I needed for my Mental Health.

Describe a recent challenge that you overcame.

I quit drinking alcohol, and it changed my life. Now, instead of turning to alcohol for relief from pain, I turn my pain into power by learning how to use the pain as motivation for change.

What kinds of changes do you foresee in this industry within the industry in the next year? The next 5 years?

Digital transformation is evolving rapidly, and blockchain technology is the future of everything. Mass adoption is coming in this emerging, digital economy we will live in. I still feel dot-com will always be the gold standard of domain names, which will never change.

What are the current trends that are directly impacting your business?

In the wake of the recent recession and the ongoing inflation, many organizations face budget cuts and layoffs. We’ve seen a lot of speculation and uncertainty about what will happen in the future.

What fact about you would surprise people?

In junior high and high school, I was first chair violin in the orchestra.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of my beautiful daughter Kyrsten. She is the best thing that ever happened to me 26 years ago.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

If the real world doesn’t accept you for who you are, create a new one and live fearlessly.

What’s the most recent thing you learned (big or small)?

Anxiety is a LIAR.

What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?

I am looking forward to connecting and collaborating in person with all the domain investors who I have learned so much from. Oh and of course the ROTD domain auction.

How would you describe NamesCon to a new domainer?

This is my first time attending NamesCon in person, and it’s going to be amazing. I’ve been working with domain investors and pioneers virtually for years, but getting together with them all in one place will be surreal. I encourage anyone joining the industry to attend this exciting event. I would also like to remind you that you need to leave your body suits and hoverboards at home (sorry).

If you’re attending NamesCon Global 2022, you will get an email for the featured attendee form and help the NamesCon community learn more about you before you arrive in Austin!.
