Q&A

Describe your company. How long have you been there and what led you to this career choice?
We’re domain registrar and hosting company located in Mallorca, a small island in Spain. I joined DonDominio in 2009 as I already knew the company from my previous domain background as I personally managed my portfolio with them, but being the only domain registrar in our island was the deal breaker.

NamesCon is all about business networking. Can you tell us a story about the success of a meeting at NamesCon?
I love meeting people of this industry, getting to know a new potential client or provider would be a success, but having a chat with any player inside this industry is interesting.

Can you tell us about how your service or product helps deliver value to your customers?
We keep things small, this means we automate all possible processes and this is one of our most valuable assets, managing a portfolio of thousands of domains is fast & uncomplicated. In addition, we offer hundreds of domain extensions being directly accredited on each of them, mainly on ccTLDs, which allows us to offer competitive pricing and quickly solve problems if they occur.

How does your career compare to what you envisioned in your youth?
It doesn’t have anything to do with what I thought I would do, but one thing that I was sure I wanted was to love my work each day, which I do.

How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger?
I uncomplicate the daily challenges we face on our business.

Describe the latest and greatest accomplishment in your career.
Being promoted as CRO in our company.

Describe a recent challenge that you overcame.
Plan our company goals for the coming years, on all aspects.

What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?
There are too many options out there, creating even more need to make use of “classic” gTLDs that have been in the namespace since years, mainly .com & ccTLDs. Currently new TLDs represent only a marginal revenue stream for us and I don’t see a great change in the coming years, at least for us.

What kinds of changes to you foresee within the industry in the next year? The next 5 years?
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is something that will affect all European companies on May this year, but also non-European ones, this Privacy regulation will have a huge impact on how TLDs show personal details on WHOIS records (among other things), there is still a huge unawarness and only a few months left, so, keep an eye on it. Blockchain and machine learning will have a huge impact in the coming years, fraud prevention, for example, will be much accurate.
