Describe your company. How long have you been there, and what led you to this career choice?
.GLOBAL domains allow for the expanding of horizons and extending of borders. It brings communities from across the globe together around common interests and ideas, providing instant understanding of aspirations and reach. In fact, it was my own global aspirations of moving to the United States from England that prompted the start of my career in the domain industry in 2015, proudly joining the .GLOBAL Domain Registry in 2018.
NamesCon is all about business networking. Can you tell us a story about the success of a meeting at NamesCon?
NAMESCON CHANGED MY LIFE! (And I honestly mean that!) Attending NamesCon 2018 opened doors of opportunity that led to my present position within the .GLOBAL Registry, working alongside a family-like team, within a passionate industry of wonderful people.
How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger?
Virtual real estate.
Latest and greatest accomplishment in your career?
To have found a job I love, which continues to give me the ability to grow both professionally, and personally.
What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?
I am a believer, adopter, and lover of new TLDs. They have opened the doors to a new dimension of evolving online prospects, and am excited to be part of their continued advancement, helping shape the future of the internet space.
Who would you like to hear speak at NamesCon? Why?
Many businesses and entrepreneurs only speak about their success. I find it inspiring to hear from those who are willing to admit downfall or failure, and how they overcame the odds to get where they are today.
What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?
The passion! The people within the domains industry are a rare breed, and from my attendance to multiple years of NamesCon events, and hundreds of other industry related conferences, it’s quite clear we don’t like the industry… we love it!
What fact about you would surprise people?
I am the WWE Superman. I play a fun, gimmick character within the WWE wrestling community, and have attended 16 consecutive WrestleManias.
What was one of your biggest “Aha!” moments in life?
That “background” is not spelled “backround.” (I’m still convinced Oxford Dictionary is wrong!)
What’s the most recent thing you learned (big or small)?
Take the risk. It can lead to great reward (and it did!).
Who has been the biggest influence on your life, and what did they teach you?
No thought needed – my parents! Even if this is my professional world, I am proud to admit that it’s through their unconditional love and support that put me on the correct paths in life, leading to my own achievements today.
What are you proudest of in your life?
Gaining acceptance to my #1 University choice.
Where is your favourite place to escape?
When in New York, sitting on the rocks overlooking the ice rink and city skyline, letting my thoughts break free.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
“Take it easy. Tomorrow is a new day.”
