Helsinki, Finland was recently confirmed as the replacement host city for ICANN56 and the NamesCon team is already strategizing how to make the most of our visit. Delegates will travel to the capital city from June 27-30, 2016 – and aside from important policy meetings and official sessions, there’s much to look forward to!
On the social scene, NamesCon is planning to host another social networking event after our very successful party in Dublin last year, and we are currently looking for one or two sponsors to team up with us as co-hosts for this event! If you’re interested please contact us for more information.
On the tourism front, Helsinki has loads to offer if you’re able to carve out some for yourself between meetings. The city is nestled within an archipelago that consists of more than 300 islands, one of which is the fortress of Suomenlinna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s just a 15 minute ferry ride from the Helsinki Market Square. Stroll through the compact, walkable city and take in the Art Nouveau architecture; the Central Railway Station is even said to have inspired Batman’s Gotham City!
And the official ICANN venue itself is worth a dedicated exploration. Finlandia Hall was designed by architect Alvar Aalto and has been a multi-functional event venue since it opened in 1971, containing a concert hall with advanced acoustics, an Italian-inspired piazza, and even serving as the locale for several world congress meetings.
Is your company planning a networking event during ICANN? Please let us know so we can add it to our calendar and help spread the word! If you would like to set a meeting regarding sponsoring or exhibiting at NamesCon 2017, we’d also be glad to hear from you and arrange a face-to-face meeting to discuss your marketing goals.
