The Driskill Hotel
This iconic and historic 6th Street institution offers everying Texas-sized: hospitality, amenities, and friendliness. The oldest operating hotel in Austin, the Driskill was built in 1886 by a cattle baron. This luxurious hotel takes up the block across the street from the Omni. (If you’re a fan of alternative rock, the Concrete Blonde song “Ghost of a Texas Ladies’ man” is about the Driskill.)
Aloft Austin Downtown
Chic and contemporary, with a unique and playful backyard-stylerooftop bar and lounge. This place also lets you borrow a pair of cowboy boots for the day—we wonder how many we’ll see in the Exhibition hall! Aloft is one short block from the Omni: just a few minutes’ walk.

Proper Hotel Austin:
As the name suggests, the Proper goes for casual luxury, creative energy, and soulful design. This is Austin’s newest luxury lifestyle hotel. Boasting a rooftop pool with sundeck and cabanas, a rejuvenating spa, and amazing dining and bar options. Little touches by local artists complete the scene. Located by Lady Bird Lake, the Proper is a five-minute taxi or rideshare from the Omni, or a 20-minute walk.

However, if the Driskill and Aloft fill up, we have a few other suggestions up our sleeve:
The Westin Austin Downtown features the tallest rooftop pool and lounge in Austin, but you’ll be too busy exploring the bustling 6th Street neighborhood. The Omni is just a five-minute walk away. Rooms go for around $229/night.
The Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin is across the street from the main NamesCon action. It’s a historic building: one of Austin’s first high-rises. Rooms go for around $175 including breakfast.
For that higher-end experience, the W Hotel Austin delivers. Spa and pool, this place is around $350/night. This swanky spot is a 10-minute walk from the NamesCon action.
