Richard Lau, co-founder of NamesCon, was awarded Domain Industry Hall of Fame status today at THE Domain Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Richard was previously honoured in 2004 with the very first Domainer of the Year Award.

The Domain Conference Awards received nominations for more than 160 individuals or companies this year, and finalists were announced at the end of August with a call-out for votes from the domaining community to select their winners. Votes were independently tabulated by Escrow.com

On September 1, reacting to the news of him being selected as a finalist, Richard responded: “I would be honoured to be inducted into the Domain Industry Hall of Fame alongside such mentors as Mike Berkens, John Berryhill, Monte Cahn, David Castillo, Michael Castillo, Michael Cyger, Scott Day, Adam Dicker, Chad Folkenning, Jeff Gabriel, Ron Jackson, Rick Latona, Igal Lichtman, Mike Mann, Howard Neu, Sahar Sarid, Frank Schilling, Rick Schwartz and Yun Ye.”

Richard was unfortunately unable to attend the Awards Luncheon today due to scheduling conflicts, but he was able to share this message: “It’s truly an honour to be inducted into the Domain Industry Hall of Fame. Many of my mentors are already members and I consider it a significant achievement milestone in this journey called life. Many of us labour quietly on our keyboards day in and out and our friends and neighbours aren’t quite sure what we do. This show of appreciation from peers in the industry is really heartwarming and a personal encouragement for me that goes beyond words.”

THANK YOU to the domain community and to The Domain Industry Awards for this recognition!
