Q&A
Describe your company and how long you have been there.
RightMesh is a subsidiary of Left, which John and I started in 2010. Left has a vision to “Build something of real and lasting value, which will impact our community and make our Mark on the World.”
What can attendees look forward to during your session?
Insights into how amazingly similar the crypto space is to early domaining. There are a bunch of nuances and pitfalls that you only discover once you dive fully down the rabbit hole – I will freely share anything that I have leaned along the way.
What can attendees do in order to prepare for your session? Are there any questions or scenarios they should consider in advance?
To learn about us visit www.RightMesh.io and watch our 90 second intro video. If you are really keen there is a whitepaper that tells you all you need to know about what we are doing.
To learn about this space visit Laura Shin’s Unchained podcasts and listen to all of them, starting with Blockchain 101.
What would you like attendees to learn or take away from your session?
Amazing things are possible. Many will fail. Some will succeed. domainers have an unfair advantage that increases their chance of success. The rewards for winning are huge.
What kinds of changes do you foresee within the industry in the next year 5 years?
Within domaining – escape while you can, sell what you can for as much as you can liquidate quickly. Within crypto – get involved and make well researched, smart choices, dont be greedy.
What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?
Seeing people that I have known and/or respected for a long time realise that they have a new opportunity, and hopefully helping them along the journey.
How did you get your start in the industry?
In domaining, via Kevin and Colin. They persuaded me out of one of my start up companies and to come and work with them.
What advice can you offer those who are just getting their start in the domain or related industry?
Don’t start in domains, start in crypto – the opportunities and trends are way better.
What was one of your biggest “a-ha!” moments in life?
When I met my new wife for the first time. She walked in to the restaurant and took by breath away.
How does your career compare to what you envisioned in your youth?
There is no comparison. People like me don’t end up travelling the world, helping to run a company full of amazing and talented people and having a chance to raise 100M people out of poverty. I could simply never envision it.
If you had fifteen extra minutes each day, what would you do with them?
Chat around the island in our kitchen with my wife and our collection of children.
What’s the latest and greatest accomplishment in your career so far?
Helping to create the RightMesh platform. It is a game changer for so many people.
Where is your favourite place to escape?
On a regular basis, into the spa style bathroom we recently created in our house. On the occasions we can get away, I love the Azores.
What object would you put in a time capsule that best represents who you are today?
Photographs.
