Q&A

Describe your company and how long you have been there
Blockgeeks is the leading blockchain education platform. We provide a collection of online courses, articles and mentorship for blockchain engineers. One of the barriers to mainstream adoption of blockchain technologies is the low supply of engineers. Many people have raised money for their ideas through ICOs, but don’t have access to engineers to build out those ideas. Blockgeeks addresses this need by providing a single, comprehensive place to train blockchain engineers. Over the past 6 months, I have been mentoring students and expanding our online course catalogue.

What can attendees look forward to during your session?
Attendees can look forward to demystifying what blockchain is. There is lots of hype, some well-intentioned and otherwise, that prevents people from grasping what blockchain really is and what it can do for them.

What can attendees do in order to prepare for your session? Are there any questions or scenarios they should consider in advance?
I would like attendees to consider the industry they are in and evaluate whether it is a centralized or decentralized ecosystem. As most industries today are centralized, I would also like attendees to consider how decentralizing would impact their industry.

What would you like attendees to learn or take away from your session?
They key takeaway would be to understand what decentralization is and how it is reshaping industries.

Can you tell us about how your service or product helps deliver value to your customers?
Our customers are engineers and organizations looking for blockchain engineers. We help engineers, who are typically from the web/mobile space, learn about blockchain and transition into a blockchain career. We also provide organizations access to talent.

What kinds of changes do you foresee within the industry in the next year? 5 years?
Over the next year I expect blockchain technologies to go mainstream, hopefully with some killer apps. In the next 5 years we will probably see a re-architecture of the entire internet to be more decentralized.

What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?
Networking with and learning from fellow attendees!

What industry trends or topics do you think will be at the forefront of panel and keynote discussions this year?
Diversity and blockchain.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I used to work at Amazon. I also spent a year travelling and working around the world as a digital nomad visiting 50 cities in 20 countries.

How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger?
I teach engineers how to code on the blockchain.
