Q&A
Describe your company and how long you have been there?
Since 2007, Bernstein IP has been advising and counselling on trademark, copyright, and Internet matters. Now on our 10th year, we have added an Of Counsel patent attorney with a Computer Science degree.
What can attendees look forward to during your session?
Tips on how to avoid getting your social media and domain names stolen.
What would you like attendees to learn or take away from your session?
Will discuss terms of service for social media accounts and ways to be prepared to prove that you own the social media account if your account is compromised.
Can you tell us about how your service or product helps deliver value to your customers?
Bernstein IP offers flat rate and hourly services in both transactional and litigation/UDRP representation. We strive to be efficient and responsive to the needs of our clients.
What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?
Until brand TLDs spend significant amounts of money marketing products and services under their TLDs, the public will not really be aware of typing in anything right of the dot (except .com). Only time will tell when the public will get used to the new TLDs.
What kinds of changes do you foresee within the industry in the next year? 5 years?
I anticipate that there will be a lot of moving around of C-Level executives in the industry. There will also be more consolidation of New TLDs; i.e., the bigger registries gobbling up the smaller ones. Unfortunately, I also expect a lot of New TLDs to fail.
What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?
Seeing everyone and learning more about what’s going on in the industry, not to mention the fun parties!
Who are you excited to hear speak at NamesCon? Why?
Frank Schilling because he’s Frank.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I am an original burner. Attended the first two Burning Man in San Francisco.
How did you get your start in the industry?
Marc Ostrovsky brought me into the industry. He found me on Google and invited me to fly to Las Vegas to attend the 2008 TRAFFIC Conference. Thanks to Marc, he introduced me to some of the top players in the industry.
What advice can you offer those who are just getting their start in the domain industry?
Read the blogs, talk to people in the industry and attend the conferences.
How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger?
I’m an Internet lawyer.
Who has been the biggest influence on your life? What lessons did that person teach you?
My Mother. She was a strong and intelligent woman who taught me that I could do anything in my life if I worked for it.
Latest and greatest accomplishment in your career?
I taught an online educational class on IP protection for professionals in the legal Cannabis business, which can be found at learngreenflower.com.
