Q&A

Describe your company and how long you have been there?

GoDaddy powers the world’s largest cloud platform dedicated to small, independent ventures. With more than 14 million customers worldwide and more than 63 million domain names under management, GoDaddy is the place people come to name their idea, build a professional website, attract customers, and manage their work. I have worked at GoDaddy and within the Aftermarket team specifically for 10 years.

What can attendees look forward to during your session?

I believe we’ve only just seen the beginning of international domain investment; India and China are both going to loom large over the industry for years to come.

Can you tell us about how your service or product helps deliver value to your customers?

GoDaddy offers investors the lowest advertised regular pricing through our Discount Domain Club, while also offering the broadest aftermarket distribution via AfternicDLS.

What are your thoughts on the new TLDs?

They can provide a great outlet for a startup who can’t afford a premium .com, but some registries are pricing their domains within the same range as a good .com, which I believe is dampening adoption.

What kinds of changes do you foresee within the industry in the next five years?

I see more international adoption of domains as SMBs continue to grow in developing nations.

What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming NamesCon?

Seeing old friends.

What industry trends or topics do you think will be at the forefront of panel and keynote discussions this year?

Probably China, again.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I grew up on a 32′ sailboat with a family of four.

How did you get your start in the industry?

I’m a software engineer by trade and came into GoDaddy as a development manager over our CashParking product. My first conference was T.R.A.F.F.I.C. in Miami in 2007.

How does your career compare to what you envisioned in your youth?

Well, I’m pretty far off the Astronaut path I envisioned… I was always interested in computers and the Internet however, so working for one of the largest Internet companies in the world is very exciting.

If you had fifteen extra minutes each day, what would you do with them?

Hang out with my family.
