Upcoming Industry Events: DNHouston, DNSeattle, GDD Summit and WHD.usa

GoDaddy 05 840x350

First up, two industry meetups are on our agenda: one in Houston and the other (a little closer to our home office in Vancouver, Canada!) in Seattle. Meetups are increasingly becoming a staple of our thriving domain industry, and NamesCon is very happy to support these events wherever possible. These two events are on the larger end of the spectrum:
DNSeattle

GoDaddy 05

DNSeattle, taking place at the GoDaddy headquarters in Kirkland, Washington on May 12, quickly reached the 75-person capacity and is now accepting a wait-list for the event. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The Twitter buzz from the last meetup indicates this will be another successful event, and with a sold-out guest list we are very excited to attend. Make sure you’re following organizer Michael Cyger on Twitter to secure your place at the next event! And watch our social feeds for photos and coverage from DNSeattle if you aren’t able to attend this one.

DNHouston

Crushwine

Brand.bar’s Angela St. Julien is hosting a meetup for those in the Houston area on April 28th and will feature speaking slots with Eric Lyon of NamePros.com, Kevin Kopas of PIR.org and from the host herself! Reserve one of just 50 tickets now and enjoy great company, food, drinks and the opportunity to win great prizes (like a free ticket to NamesCon 2017!)

GDD Summit in Amsterdam

Due to shifts in the tone and agenda of the upcoming ICANN conference scheduled in Helsinki, NamesCon has decided to focus our networking and education efforts to the new Global Domains Division Summit taking place May 17-19. The first event took place in Santa Monica in 2015, with participants in attendance and also tuning in remotely from all around the world. If you will be at the GDD Summit and would like to set a meeting with NamesCon event organizers, please contact us!

WHD.usa

World Hosting Days is on its way to Phoenix from May 25-26 with another content-rich cloud and hosting conference. After the success of WHD.usa last year, this year promises to be even better with a new location, engaging social events, and all of the premium content and hospitality that WHD is famous for. You’ll find presentations, sessions, panel discussions, exhibitors and networking events. Don’t miss these keynote speakers:

Bruce Schneier, Internationally renowned security technologist, Author of “Data & Goliath”
The world’s foremost computer security expert, Bruce Schneier will share his expertise with attendees in an exclusive Q&A session, “Security and Privacy in the Cloud” on May 25th.

Paul Mockapetris, Inventor of DNS and SMTP
Paul will take attendees back through the history of the Internet, from his time at ARPA through the age of the cloud. Having written code in the trenches — engineering the very framework of our technological revolution since the beginning — few people are better suited to tell the tale.

Chris Riley, Head of Public Policy for Mozilla
Chris has doctorate degrees in both Computer Science and Law, and has worked at the US Department of State as a program manager for Internet Freedom and as an attorney-advisor for the Federal Communications Commission, among other achievements—making him uniquely qualified to discuss this important and timely topic.

Registration is free with the following code: US16AW7. Once again, please contact us to set a meeting with NamesCon if you plan to be in Phoenix for this event.
